1.	안 versus 않 "not"

않다 and 않는다 are verbs that always follow -지.

학교에 안 간다. : 학교에 가지 않는다.
꽃이 안 예쁘다. : 꽃이 예쁘지 않다.

2.	이다 "to be" versus 아니다 "not to be" (안이다 is wrong)

죤은 학생이다. : 영희는 학생이 아니다.

3.	없다 "there is not," "not to have" versus 안 있다 "not to be"

집에 아무도 없다. : 나는 집에 안 있고 기숙사에 있다.
나는 차가 없다.

나도 간다. : 나는 또 학교에 간다.

5.	되다 verb "to become" with 되 versus 돼 (되 + 어 --> 돼)

6.	ㅐ versus ㅔ

There are no rules for the use of ㅐ or ㅔ. One must memorize the spelling of these words, since they may sound the same.

7.	-데 versus -대

This marker indicates "from" a person (ablative).

8.	ㅅ 받침 versus ㅆ 받침

ㅆ 받침 usually appears in verb endings, as with the past tense markers 았 or 었 and the future 겠; ㅅ 받침 is usually for nouns or verb stems.

9.	Verb endings -세요 and -(으)십시오

-세요 polite informal request => 어서 오세요. 읽으세요.
-(으)십시오 polite formal honorific request => 어서 오십시오. 읽으십시오.

=> We could not finish the job because we didn't have enough people.
스위스는 경치가 아름다우므로 많은 관광객이 찾아온다.
=> Many tourists visit Switzerland because her scenery is beautiful.

나는 신념과 용기로(써) 일을 끝마쳤다.
=> I finished the work with determination and courage.
친구의 도움으로써 그 일을 끝냈다.
=> With my friend"s help, I got the work done.

낫 낮 낯	"sickle" "day time" "face"	낫으로 김을 맨다. 그 사람은 낮에 자고 밤에 공부한다. 낯이 붉어진다.
빗 빚 빛	"comb" "debt" "light," "ray of sun"	빗이 없어서 머리를 못 빗었다. 학교 다닐 때 빚을 많이 졌다. 빛이 없으면 풀이 못 자란다.
잃다 잊다	"to lose" "to forget"	여권을 잃어 버렸어요. 전화번호를 잊어 버렸어요.
가르치다 가리키다	"to teach" "to point at," "to finger"	이 선생님이 학생들을 가르쳐요. 시계바늘이 열두 시를 가리켜요.
