-´À´Ï is often used with Â÷¶ó¸® for emphasis. It is also often followed by -´Â°Ô ³´´Ù to mean that something is preferable to something
else, as in, "It is better to do . . . than . . ." Â÷¶ó¸® adds emphasis to "rather."
- ½ÃÀå¿¡ °¡¼ »ç´À´Ï ºñ½ÎÁö¸¸ ¹éÈÁ¡¿¡¼ »ç¾ß°Ú´Ù.
=> I'd rather buy it at a department store than in a market even though it will be
more expensive.
- °¡±î¿î °÷Àº ¿îÀüÇÏ´À´Ï (Â÷¶ó¸®) °È´Â °Ô ³´´Ù.
=> I would rather walk than drive if it's close.
- Åä¿äÀÏ¿¡ Áý¿¡ ÀÖ´À´Ï ÀÏ °¡°Ú´Ù.
=> I'd go to work rather than stay home on Saturday.
These are two popular sayings using ´À´Ï:

=> I would rather die than be sick (to suffer from illness).

This ending is used colloquially. The intonation of this sentence ending
tells whether the sentence is a question (rising) or a statement (level or

Literally, this idiomatic expression says "in the midst of the (whirl)
wind," meaning "because / as a result (of a confusion)." It is usually used in a negative context.
- ´Ê°Ô µµÂøÇÏ´Â ¹Ù¶÷¿¡ °³ÇнĿ¡ ¸ø °¬´Ù.
=> I couldn't go to the school orientation because of my arriving late.
