14 Productive Components


This is the speech radical. It occurs in simplified form in 151 characters. When this radical is found on the right or bottom of a character or stands alone, it retains its traditional form.
Examples:
 

 In this example, only the speech radical is simplified.

Here the speech radical and a productive character both undergo simplification. Both are idiosyncratic forms.

The speech radical in an example where both components of the character are simplified, including a second productive component.

The speech radical in an example where it is not simplified because it stands alone.

Here the speech radical serves as a component but does not simplify because it stands on the right side of the character.
