Collections/Archives Language Teaching Resources Books, journals and other print materials on language teaching methodology
and second language acquisition. This collection also includes video
recordings of Lecture Series offered at Berkeley by scholars in the
field of second language acquisition theory. • About 500 volumes located in room 34 Dwinelle Hall Language Learning Media Instructional media (mostly audio and including a growing number of
video recordings and multi-media) is
more than 100 languages. Many items in this collection are textbook
components adopted for first and second year, college-level language
courses. Other collection items are supplementary materials such as
lectures, plays, poetry and authentic materials for more advanced language
students. •About 1,000 series; copies available for circulation from rooms
B50 and B22 Dwinelle Hall Language Learning Books Textbooks, workbooks, laboratory manuals, tape scripts, etc. to accompany
the BLC Language Learning Media collection. •About 1,000 volumes available for circulation from room B50
Dwinelle Hall Audio Archive of Linguistic Fieldwork Archival sound recordings of native speakers participating in linguistic
field work. This collection contains linguistic data, stories, songs/chants
and other material in about 90 languages; mostly endangered or rare
languages. The largest group of languages represented in the archive
is the result of field work sponsored by the Survey
of California and Other Indian Languages (UC, Berkeley, Department
of Linguistics). Audio Archive of UC Berkeley Lectures and Events Archival sound recordings of selected University-sponsored lectures, poetry readings, public addresses and colloquia dating from the 1960s through the late 1990s; including many notable speakers and a wide range of topics. Some samples from this archive are available through a collaborative project with the Media Resource Center, Moffit Library. At present this archive continues to record and preserve campus lectures sponsored by the UC Berkeley Graduate Council. • About 1,700 series; copies available for circulation from room
