BALARILA II: ‘na’ at ‘-ng’ LINKERS/LIGATURES/MGA PANG-ANGKOP
NA and NG letters used between the subject and modifier are called LIGATURES/LINKERS. This is used as a connective between a sequence of words (p.24).
NA is used when the linker is preceded by a consonant. NG is used when the linker is preceded by a vowel.
Use in Nouns/Pangngalan: (p.154)
- Nagtatawa ang lalakeng mataas.
The tall guy is laughing.
- Tumatakbo ang baboy na malaki.
The large pig is running.
Use in Adjectives/Pang-uri
1. Nagsuotng itim na damit si Nanay.
Mother wore a black dress
2. Kumain kami ng masarap na pagkain.
We ate delicious food.
The linker G is used when the last letter of the word ends with a letter “N”

A change in word order does not change the meaning of the phrase.
