SALIN NG PAG-UUSAP:
Grace, a college freshman, and Fe, Grace’s new acquaintance are in the cafeteria.
Fe: Hey Grace! There you are! Are you living in the dorm this semester?
Fe: No. In an apartment. Over at Piedmont Street.
Fe: Do you have a housemate?
Grace: Yeah. I have two housemates. Both sophomores.
Fe: How is the place?
Grace: The place is okay. It’s near everything. How about you, where do you live?
Fe: I live in the dorm. The place is small but it has everything.
Fe: How about your classes. How are they?
Grace: Calculus and Chemistry are tough. And your classes?
Fe: I have five classes. Plus I joined the PCN.
Grace: What is PCN?
Fe: Pilipino Cultural Night. Each April here, Filipinos on campus have a show.
Grace: Is that so?
Grace: What kind of show?
Fe: Plays and native dances of the Philippines.
Grace: Are the plays drama or comedy?
Fe: It’s a mix. Usually, it’s about the life of Filipinos in America.
Fe: In the Philippines, do they have PCN too?
Grace: They do, but they’re Broadway shows, in English.
Fe: How unusual. We Fil-Ams here long for Philippine culture; whereas Filipinos back home yearn for American culture.
Grace: You’re telling me!
