Si Tomas Q. Hernandez na propesor sa Pamantasan ng Pilipinas sa Diliman, Quezon City ang nahirang na Distinguished Visitor mula sa Timog-Silangang Asya sa taong ito, para makibahagi (to be part of) sa ating Centro ng Southeast Asian Studies Berkeley. Si Propesor Hernandez ay maraming akdang artikulo sa mga journal ng Panitikan at Sining sa Pilipinas. Siya’y magsasalita sa isang Symposium tungkol sa buhay at nobela ni Jose Rizal. Ito’y gaganapin (will be held) sa Miyerkoles, a-disisais ng Pebrero ng alas 4:00 ng hapon sa Alumni House sa kampus.
Ang Centro ay magpaparangal (will honor) kay Prop. Hernandez sa isang Reception pagkatapos ng Symposium. Ang parangal ay magsisimula ng 6:30 sa Lipunan Restaurant sa Bancroft (sa kanto ng Telegraph). Sana’y makarating kayo.

Dear Colleagues,
Tomas Q. Hernandez, professor at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City, was chosen to be this year’s Distinguished Visitor from Southeast Asia, to be part of our Center for Southeast Asian Studies at Berkeley. Professor Hernandez has authored several articles in the journal of Literature and Arts in the Philippines. He will be speaking in a Symposium on the life and novel of Jose Rizal. This will be held on Wednesday, February 16 at 4:00 p.m. at the Alumni House on campus.
The Center will honor Prof. Hernandez at a Reception after the Symposium. The reception will begin at 6:30 at Lipunan Restaurant on Bancroft (corner Telegraph). I hope you can attend.
