This course is for students who have completed Elementary Korean or have an equivalent proficiency. The course offers a continuation of developing Korean language skills of college students through the expansion of their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills beyond the basic level. The course challenges students to improve their vocabulary, syntax, and oral fluency as they read, hear, and talk about the Korean cultural themes of history, customs, geography, and business.
With successful completion of the course, students will be able:
  • To take third-year college Korean or an equivalent program
  • To speak Korean with an intermediate to advanced level vocabulary
  • To acquire basic interview and conversational skills
  • To better understand simple Korean TV ads, programs, and newspaper articles
  • To write an essay on familiar topics in Korean
  • To have a minimal knowledge of Korea in its cultural background
  • To browse through Korean web-sites
