These 39 characters are now the officially recognized simplified forms of characters that have traditionally been represented by multiple character graphs. These Variant Characters are also non-productive, however, they differ from Non-Productive characters in that they are not "simplifications" per se. Rather, they are the selected forms from among several co-existing, and equally valid, alternate graphs for certain characters. |
